A New Political Environment in New Hampshire

Democrats last year enjoyed a historic surge in New Hampshire, a state that had held to its “Yankee Republicanism” legacy long after most of New England had converted to a Democratic stronghold. Voters turned both of the state’s U.S. House seats and both state legislative chambers over to the Democrats, while re-electing popular Democratic Gov. John Lynch to a second two-year term with 74 percent of the vote.
